Renovation works to 1-3 Tower Buildings, MacCurtain Street, Cork
The building is a landmark on Cork Cities Victorian Quarter at the junction of MacCurtain Street & Summerhill North. It was originally constructed around the turn of the 20th Century and originally used as offices. More recently the building housed a dental practice on the upper ground floor facing Summerhill with a retail unit on the lower ground floor facing MacCurtain Street.
Falling into disrepair and decay, the building was renovated from the bare structure through to fit out. The characteristic brick with decorative terracotta plaques were repaired, cleaned and repointed. The PVC windows were replaced with conservation suitable sliding sash timber. On the roof, the iron railings were repaired and the cornicing around the iconic turret were also refurbished.
The building is now home to retail units on the lower floors and apartments on the upper floors.
